Lee School Committee adopts policy on federal agents in schools, closing a compliance gap with a new state law. Administrator Mr. Sharkey told the board the district missed a September 1 deadline to adopt Policy ACL while awaiting guidance from the Massachusetts Association of School Committees, calling the situation "uncharted territory." Superintendent Mike Richard reported enrollment has grown to 657 students, up from the low 630s last year, crediting school choice and a large kindergarten class.
The committee approved $141,989.56 in accounts-payable warrants and $153,497.49 in payroll warrants, and shifted $32,795.10 between special education and regular education accounts to fix a reconciliation error. Director of Student Services Norton said the district still needs three to four more special education hires despite bringing on 11 paraprofessionals this year.
