Lee School Committee OKs $100,000 special ed ask
School Committee · Meeting of August 11, 2026
Lee School Committee moves to tap $100,000 from special ed reserve for a nurse hire. Chair Langlois presided as the committee voted unanimously to seek a joint meeting with the Select Board on Aug. 18 to access up to $100,000 of a $250,000 special education reserve fund, needed for a one-to-one registered nurse for a returning student. The superintendent said "these are the types of expenses that that reserve fund was created for." Enrollment sits at 648 students, and the district disclosed a roughly $7 million town share of an $11.5 million roof, parking and tennis project after MSBA set reimbursement at 53.95 percent, below the hoped-for 60 percent.
Members also approved $391,927.45 and $246,219.74 in warrants, handbook changes moving up the early-graduation deadline and resetting tardiness rules monthly, and an updated special education director job description ahead of an October state compliance review.
