Lee Planning Board reelects chair, endorses Woodcock Road lot split

Planning Board · Meeting of June 8, 2026

Lee Planning Board reelects chair, previews Sharp's 100-space parking expansion. The board voted 5-0 to keep Buck Donovan as chair and elect Peter vice chair, then endorsed a Form A lot-line change on Woodcock Road by the same 5-0 margin. Engineer Mike Kulig of Berkshire Engineering told the board manufacturer Sharp, formerly Berkshire Sterile Manufacturing, needs about 100 more spaces because it is "busting at the seams with vehicles" between employees, contractors and tenants at its 480 Pleasant Street site.

No application has been filed yet. The board spent nearly an hour on a battery energy storage bylaw update, with staff member Brooke flagging a state permitting threshold of 25 megawatt-hours and a November 14 moratorium deadline, while South Lee resident Norbert Johansson pitched liquid air storage as a safer alternative to lithium batteries. Fire Chief Brown is expected at the board's July 13 meeting to address battery fire risk.
