Planning Board Continues Hotel Hearing to Sept. 14
Planning Board · Meeting of August 17, 2026
Lee Planning Board continues hotel hearing to Sept. 14 over parking and design disputes. The board voted 5-0 to push back a decision on a proposed 75-room, four-story hotel at 165 Housatonic Street after members Conrad and Peter Blum argued the applicant's revised 90-space parking plan still falls short of the town's bylaw, with Blum saying his own estimate was closer to 110 spaces. The developer confirmed construction costs will run "north of $20 million" and said he would consider cutting the room count to help fit a three-story design.
Conrad, citing 27 years of commercial design experience, said he "will not accept anything less than 24 feet" for parking aisles against the applicant's proposed 20 feet. A resident, Mr. Nichols, urged the board to weigh unresolved town Board of Health fines at the applicant's existing Pilgrim Inn, saying "it deserves a serious consideration."
