Lee board approves pole relocations for Hill Street bridge project

Select Board · Meeting of July 27, 2026

Lee Select Board restarts a utility pole hearing after an abutter's notice objection, then approves it unanimously. An abutter identified as Claire halted the board's hearing on NSTAR Electric/Eversource and Verizon petitions to relocate poles on Mill Street and Washington Mountain Road for MassDOT's Hill Street bridge project, saying "I'm protesting this meeting. I was not given notice." The board restarted the hearing and later approved both petitions unanimously, contingent on receiving MassDOT's updated engineering plan.

Separately, the board set a flat $300 Conservation Commission posting fee after land use staffer Brooke Healy said "I am asking that the select board up the fees to just $300 flat," and appointed the land use department as Lee's contact for a new state clean-energy permitting system taking effect October 1. The board also approved one-day licenses for the Lee Sportsmen's Association and Lee Youth Commission, a gas permit for Berkshire Gas, and designated 250th Anniversary Committee members as special municipal employees, all unanimously.
