Lee Planning Board continues hearing on proposed 74-room Fairfield Inn by Marriott. Attorney Jeff Lynch told the board the project at 165 Housatonic Street would cut lot coverage to 7.74 percent, add 83 parking spaces and use a 2025 zoning amendment allowing four-story, 50-foot buildings. Board member Conrad read four pages of written questions on stormwater, lighting and a sewer-flow discrepancy he said undercounted the increase by roughly 2,000 gallons per day.

Resident Sarah Nichols said emergency responders visit the existing motel "approximately twice a week," while Chamber of Commerce director Alex Kettinger called the current property "not the welcoming small town village look" Lee deserves. Daily driveway trips are projected to nearly triple, from 192 to 611. The board voted 5-0 to continue the hearing to July 13 at 6:15 p.m.
