Zoning Board · Meeting of July 8, 2026

Lee Zoning Board of Appeals debates a paid administrator post, delays two matters to August 26. The board unanimously approved its June 16 minutes after confirming an applicant met permit conditions, including new engineering certification from Steve Matt of Foresight. Most of the meeting centered on whether to create a zoning administrator, an idea born from repeated quorum failures, members recalled once waiting "six weeks" to convene a hearing.

A visiting planning consultant outlined a 35-day ruling window and 90-day appeal process, while member Dan asked to table the vote, saying he shared unresolved concerns with fellow members Don and Kristen. Staff floated raising the $500 application fee to $600 to cover appeal-related newspaper postings and pegged the administrator role at a $500 annual stipend. Attorney Jeff Lynch, representing the applicant at 165 Housatonic Street, requested a continuance pending Conservation Commission and Planning Board review; the board unanimously pushed that hearing, and the administrator discussion, to August 26.
